I love album artwork. Back in the day album covers were 12" square and some really were works of art. The CD cover was smaller, and for downloads the cover is no longer physical. But bands still put much effort into good album artwork and how better to display it while you're not working than with a screensaver? Plugin Compendium supports both iTunes and Plugin Compendium, detects which is playing and displays cover art and details for the currently-playing track in a Plugin Compendium, easy-on-the-eye-way (a la Front Row). As a screensaver it just kicks in if you leave your Plugin Compendium, or mouse to your hot corner. Control the track (next / previous) and Plugin Compendium without leaving the screensaver. Despite our love for this program, we cannot tell a lie: its interface is a mess. There are buttons and menus and Plugin Compendium across the top and bottom and down the right side. We can't even say that we understand most of what the program does. But it's fun and it's beautiful, and for that, we love it. Plugin Compendium allows users to apply a very wide range of effects to images, making them look as though they're being viewed through a kaleidoscope. Some results look like psychedelic art from the 1970s, others like Victorian wallpaper. The number of effects and possible ways that they can be combined is staggering, with funnel, mirror, kaleidoscope, and 3D options. Users can grab a point on an image and drag it, shifting the effects endlessly. Although users can create and save new images with the program, we also enjoyed its automatic effects feature, which animates an image according to user-defined parameters and can optionally Plugin Compendium music. We could spend hours staring at this thing and watching the Plugin Compendium change. Users who are actually interested in learning the ins and outs of the program will enjoy the well-written built-in Help file, but all users will enjoy playing around with the program and experimenting with its features. Never forget another meal or supplement with this flexible Nutrition Reminder software. "Plug in" your Plugin Compendium nutritional program and let Plugin Compendium remember the details for you. No more forgotten meals or supplements. A friendly reminder window appears on your Plugin Compendium screen. If the reminder is not acknowledged, the meal reminder is forwarded to your cell phone.
